Am I guaranteed to pass the course?

No. Most people pass, but you will be assessed on things such as reliability and attitude to work. We don’t give a CWOATA card to those who aren’t keen to progress.

Can anyone do the CWOATA PEAT course?

Yes, anyone who is 16+ can apply. There is no upper age limit, and you don’t need qualifications or experience of construction.

Does the PEAT give me a trade qualification?

No. It helps you decide which trade is right for you. You start training for a trade qualification (NVQ) after you pass our course.

How long does it take to get a qualification?

How long does it take to get a qualification? This depends on the level of qualification (NVQ) you are training for, and some other factors. If you already have qualifications, for example, you will progress more quickly. Most people qualify in 3 years or less.

How much will I be paid?

You’re not paid while you’re doing our (5-day) course. If you successfully complete the course, your starting wage will depend on your age. But it will be much higher than the minimum wage.

How much does the CWOATA PEAT course cost?

Under most circumstances, the course is free to candidates who are unemployed at the time of application.

When can I start?

We hold a course every week. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can start – courses fill up quickly, and you will be put on the first available course.
